Communicate with members; what they want, when they want, how they want. Extend visibility across campus and beyond. Find out what members want for the future of the Union and inform them of our plans. |

The Review process and our subsequent market research has shown us that our membership uses the web as a tool to keep in touch with peers and to stay informed. Our website ‘luuonline.com’ is therefore a key part of our communication with our membership, and the first phase of the redevelopment of luuonline.com went live in summer 2006. With regular daily updates, improved content and Union services turning to the web as their first choice to communicate with members, ‘luuonline.com’ is becoming a key source of information for students. |

Our website has put our members in control of how they interact with the Union and its facilities. Our online communication has also improved members' level of understanding of what is happening in the Union, achieved through the use of podcasts and videos from the Student Executive Officers, audio recordings of key events (such as Referendum) and RSS feeds. The power to deliver our services and support in as many convenient forms has never been so crucial. Our monthly printed newsletter, ‘The Gist’, has become a key publication for all our stakeholders, keeping everybody informed with news, stories and listings of all up and coming events. Student Activity Groups are key contributors to ‘The Gist’ providing details of events to the editorial team via the website. In partnership with ‘SubTV’ we have also installed 21 plasma screens around the Union building to help improve communication and reduce the need for handing out flyers and leaflets. Student Activity Groups have made full use of this facility to promote their own events. The development of the ‘Information Point’ in the foyer offered us a space to focus our services to all members and visitors, and provide a central information site for key Union facts and updates. Our ‘Complaints and Suggestions’ scheme is now in its second year and is still proving to be a constant source of feedback from members wishing to submit ideas on ways we can improve our services. We continue to reply to all comments, and are looking to improve our response time even more over the next year with a view to re-launch the scheme in 2007. |
