Leeds University Union has 15 assemblies that any student can get involved with. Each assembly has a specific area of responsibility and representation.
To engage with the student body. Take a look at the list of assembly groups below, see if there are any which represent your personal areas of interest. Look out for meetings or debates which take place throughout the year and get involved! If you don't like what you see, speak to the Student Executive Committee or the Campaigns and Democracy Support team upstairs in the Union building.
To actively campaign. Assemblies can be used as a way of getting other students together to campaign about issues important to you. Speak to the Assembly Chair about any ideas or issues you want to propose.
To create a forum for discussion. Assemblies provide a forum for lively debate on issues which have a direct impact the lives of members. Assemblies can make recommendations to Union Council regarding its Policies and what LUU should stand for.
If you want to change something about the Union, want to start a campaign, or just want to have your opinion heard then please contact the relevant assembly. Click on the list of assemblies below to find out more information or to contact them.

All Sports Clubs, Societies and Volunteering Groups are now represented together as Activities. This means that all groups are represented fairly and equally together and have equal access to funds and resources.
Within Activities at LUU there are ten different sub groups which all groups fit into. These specific sub groups help like-minded groups work together and are supported by the Activities Officer (who is part of the Student Executive Committee), the Activities Assembly and the ARC. So now every group has a Development Co-ordinator (staff member) and a Rep (student).
Contact your Development Co-ordinator to discuss committee training, budgets, event planning and any other questions you have about the buidling. Or contact your Rep to find out about Assemblies, campaigns, or tell them about issues you feel the Union need to take action on, make policy on or campaign on for students!
The Activites Assembly is made up of eleven Reps who represent all areas of Activity. Each rep is elected and, together, as a group they represent all 270 Activity Groups at LUU. All the eleven Reps sit on the Activities Assembly and are your political voice, so use them! The Assembly is chaired by Barry McGuire who sits on Union Council along with the Activities Officer Jess. They are elected each year by cross-campus ballot and make decisions and speak on behalf of all Activities!
The Activities Assembly represent the views of Activity Groups and mandate the work of the Activities Officer and hold them to account. They also aim to encourage co-operation, better communication, and greater success for all groups, and involve groups in LUU Democracy including elections and Referenda.
