LUU Women's Cricket team were runners up in the BUSA Indoor Finals which were held at Lord's this weekend!
Having done much of the hard work in November's regional round - beating Leeds Met and Durham, Leeds headed for Lord's aiming to reach the final!
The University comfortably won the opening two group games against Bournemouth and Bath. The final group game against Manchester was affectively a sudden-death semi-final, with the winner of the game going through to the Final. Leeds found their best form with the bat - putting up a competitive total of 120 off 12 overs. The bowlers then performed magnificently to dismiss Manchester for 50 runs.
That gave Leeds a place in the Final which was against competition favourites Loughborough - who had also won all three of their group games. Leeds won the toss and elected to field. After a great team effort, they became the only team in the competition to bowl Loughborough out, albeit for a good total of 130. In response, Leeds managed to put on 85-5 with Cecilia Allen not out at the end of 12 overs. Although Leeds weren't able to get enough runs, 85-5 was a good score against some very quick and accurate bowling.
All in all, it was a good end to a great day's cricket. The team should be very proud of their performances at the home of cricket!
