Changes have been announced for the funding arrangements for students starting in the academic year 2008/09:
NB: Students starting in 2008/09 who have already studied at University previously will be assessed using the income thresholds for continuing students unless they are studying on certain courses including PGCE's, social work and medicine.
These changes mean that two thirds of students are expected to receive a grant in 2008 compared to just over half currently.
These arrangements are also in place for students who are eligible to start in 2007 and defer entry.
If you are considering deferring please contact the admissions tutor for your proposed course.
If you want further advice about the difference in the student support packages you can read more on the government’s information pages at www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/UniversityAndHigherEducation/StudentFinance/index.htm
Other funding arrangements will remain broadly the same. For information on these, the way income assessments are carried out and other sources of funding see Support for New Students 2007 .
