Leeds University Union New Born Baby Fund aims to provide practical help for students who become pregnant while they are at University.
The Fund is available to all Leeds University students (and, if applicable, their partners). Students can apply to the Fund before or after the baby is born.
The Fund can offer help by lending essential equipment for babies aged 0-3 months. It will consider the loan of buggies, cots, clothes, bedding, sterilizers, bottles and teats and baths.
Please note that due to the nature of the fund, we are not always able to offer brand new equipment. However if you receive second hand equipment it will have been professionally cleaned and be in good working order.
Anyone wishing to apply to the fund should contact the Student Advice Centre on the first floor of the Union building for an application form. Once this form is completed you should make an appointment to see a Welfare Officer. The purpose of this interview is to assess your (and, if applicable, your partners) financial situation. All applications are based on hardship and your ability to buy for yourself the equipment you require. At the interview you can discuss with the Welfare Officer what equipment you require.
Once the financial assessment is complete your application will be considered by the New Born Baby Fund Group. This group consists of two Executive officers and one permanent member of staff.
Once the decision has been made a member of the Student Advice Centre staff will contact you. If the Fund has agreed to loan you equipment this will be available for collection from the Student Advice Centre shortly afterwards.
If you would like more information about the New Born Baby Fund please do not hesitate to contact the Student Advice Centre Office, telephone (0113) 380 1300
