What to pack.
A few tips to help you decide what to bring.
Unless you have seen the room you will be moving into, you will not know how big it is going to be. Below you will find a list that will help you decide what to bring but remember, you can only bring as much stuff as you can carry or fit in your car!
The Basics
- Bedding: Quilt, sheet, pillow, bed covers
- Clothes: don’t forget to bring sports clothes, something posh for formal do’s and your school uniform!
- Toiletries
- Kitchen stuff: several sets of cheap cutlery (they go missing very easily), dinner plates and bowls, mug, glasses, saucepan, frying pan, oven tray (good for chips), wooden spoon for stirring, chopping board, sharp knife, washing up liquid and sponge, tea towel.
- Uni work stuff: Bag of some sort, Folders and dividers, well-stocked pencil case, scissors, hole punch, stapler, Pritstick and Blutack, and pins, calculator. (Don’t worry if you forget any of these, Essentials, in the Union building, sells a great range of stationery where you can pick any of these items up from).
Other stuff that might come in useful:
- Alarm clock, watch, desk lamp, washing powder, laundry bag
Other stuff that is not essential but would be nice to have:
- Electric goods, for example: stereo, TV, computer, Play Station etc.
