Also in the Union: I am the Secretary of SLAPsoc and Social Secretary of the Squash team.
I stood for election because:
I noticed how disconnected the Union Council was from its members and I wanted to represent people more directly to get them involved without the synonymous effort required to do so.
While in office I intend to:
- Set up informal fortnightly 'direct democracy' sessions in the Terrace where people can come and put across any views/suggestions they have about the Union; hopefully resulting in new motions being put through for council discussion. It will also give a friendly face to the Union Council.
- Add more and publicise suggestion boxes for the same effect within the Union building.
- Massively improve Wednesday evenings in the Union for sports teams i.e. the provision of entertainment, food, etc. Other unions are way ahead of us in this respect.
