The East Asian Research Society (EARS) represents the students of the Department of East Asian studies but is open to all students at Leeds Uni.
It was set up following the 1989 Tiananmen Square incident to promote understanding of East Asia amongst the wider student body. As well as holding amazing socials and organising the annual East Asia Conference - the largest undergraduate conference of its kind in the country - we also invite people from the field of East Asian studies to come to Leeds and speak on a topic of their choosing such as environmental concerns in Asia, the rise of China, Sino-Japanese relations, human rights in Asia, development issues, poverty, youth culture, globalisation and regionalisation, contemporary arts and literature.
