The Japanese Society is a student-led organisation which aims to facilitate and promote cultural exchange between Japanese students and other students of Leeds University. If you do study Japanese then it's the ideal chance to practise your language skills and talk to like-minded people. If you're Japanese then it's a great opportunity to practise English and talk to people about Japan and your life there.
You needn't be studying Japanese to join; you just need an interest in Japan and bags of enthusiasm to meet new and interesting people.
There is a diverse range people across our membership and absolutely everyone is welcome regardless of age, gender, race or creed. So why not come along and check it out!
Weekly Socials - come and relax, have a quite drink and, if the mood takes you, have a little boogie on the dance floor.
Food Exchange - Sushi Nights, Bring-a-dish, BBQs
Film Nights - Watch and compare the finest in Japanese cinema with some Hollywood classics.
Sports Events - Compete in an intra-mural sports league with one of our many sports teams or just come along to one of our sports fun days.
We're also running study groups for those of you who want to practise you Japanese or maybe if you're a JYA student you might want some help with your English.
You can sign up at anytime throughout the year and when you do you'll of course be entitled to the many HUGE DISCOUNTS available to Japanese Society Members including discounted entry to all our major parties throughout the year (Halloween, Christmas, Easter, End of Year Ball, etc.)
