Hello and welcome to Leeds University Union Jewish Society (Jsoc)– one of proudest and largest Jewish societies in the whole of the UK.
So - who are we? We are the society placed with looking after all the needs and wants of the many Jewish students who are at University in Leeds. We're here for every Jew – no matter their particular affiliation and we attract a wide range of people to the society. So if you need somewhere to eat on Shabbat or if you've been affected by something on campus that you deem unacceptable to Jews, we're the society to represent you.
So what do we actually do for the members? We provide both religious and social activities. That would include services on Friday Night and Festivals, as well as a variety of social events such as our weekly meat Restaurant - the legendary 'Hoof n Cud', Friday Night Dinners, a weekly Shabbat Seudah, Club Nights, Pub Quiz's and much more. Being one of the largest Jewish Societies we also attract a high calibre of educational speakers - having recently welcomed David Cameron MP, Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks, Louise Ellman MP, Clive Lawton and Eric Moonman to talk to Leeds Jsoc.
So, if you're a Jewish student studying at Leeds, get in touch and sign up to the Jsoc – it's the best £10 you'll spend during your time here. Emma Petrook is the contacts officer for 2007 - so contact her at emma@leedsjsoc.co.uk for more information on signing up.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
