Theatre Group

LUU Theatre Group is a well-established society with over 300 members and many projects offering anyone and everyone the chance to get involved in theatre.

Each term we put on at least three plays in various venues on and off campus, each proposed by students with a desire to direct or produce their ideal play or even to try some new student writing. Any TG member can propose, audition for a role, get involved in stage managment, set design and so on. If you would like to try something new and daring before proposing, we now have our established 24 hour performance event, TG24, in which a whole 24 hours will be dedicated to as many short performances as we can gain from TG members and other willing societies.

TG organise a professional workshop each year, (last year Frantic Assembly) and shall be going on another successful trip abroad, (previously Amsterdam,) for fun, frolics and... sometimes theatre!

Every August we take one or two plays up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and have also been involved in the National Student Drama Festival. This year we are making our own Leeds based Festival: The Full House Festival. Over two days we will be showcasing four productions, each based and performed in a different room in our selected student house.

So, whether you can recite Shakespeare cover to cover, want to try some improvisation, would like to showcase some new playwriting, try your hand at directing or simply come to the many social events, TG has something for you.
