Amnesty International is a worldwide voluntary movement of people who campaign for human rights. We are independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion.
Amnesty works through fundraising and raising awareness but the main focus is on actively applying pressure to those violating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. From the individual treatment of a victimised Prisoner of Conscience to international arms control, the evidence bears witness to the hugely important role Amnesty International can play.
We want to be one of the biggest and most active societies at Leeds because we really believe what we’re doing can make a huge difference.
