The tennis club is a great club to be involved with. We usually have about 50 members, many of whom play every Saturday morning at Weetwood. Saturday mornings are a good opportunity to play some tennis and meet other students. The tennis is of a relaxed atmosphere and doubles usually takes precedence. It is our intention to bridge the gap between those playing social tennis and those involved in the tennis teams this year. The committee will always be present on a Saturday morning to ensure that it is a functional morning. This year we hope to introduce some box leagues for the players so that matches can be played. In having leagues, we can also see who the better players are and this will also give them the opportunity to train with the teams.

The tennis club has two teams. The first team finished second in the BUCS (formally BUSA)Northern Division 1 while the second team finished fifth and unfortunately were relegated to the Second Division. The tennis is an excellent standard and it gives players the opportunity to travel to other universities. As well as playing league matches all year round, we also play in the BUSA cup. The two teams have a combined squad of about 12 players. These players will train at least once a week at the indoor facilities at South Leeds Stadium. There are matches every week on Wednesday afternoons.

Each year we look to recruit new members to the club. All abilities are welcome and we will make sure that you are paired with players of a similar standard. Feel free to come along to the Saturday morning sessions at weetwood 10.00am to 1.00pm.
