The Buddhist Meditation Society is a warm, friendly group of people who meet on Wednesdays from 2.00pm to 4.00pm in the Conference Hall, in the ARC of the Union building.
Come and explore two beautiful meditations, led by our experienced meditation teachers from the Western Buddhist Order. We practice the "Mindfulness of Breathing" which helps you to become more calm and aware, and the "Metta Bhavana" which aims to cultivate more kindness towards ourselves and other people. We also hold occasional day and weekend retreats where we meditate and enjoy each others company.
Beginners are always made welcome and you can try a session out before becoming a member. You can join at any time during the year and come to as many or as few sessions as you'd like. During the second half of a session we often discuss aspects of meditation and Buddhist ideas. However, as many of our members have found, you definitely don't need to be a Buddhist to enjoy the benefits of learning to meditate and we welcome people from any faith and background. We hope to see you soon!
