Qatari Student Society in Leeds founded in April 2006 by Qatari Student Network in Qatar and registered with Leeds University Union (LUU).
The number of the members at the first year was 26 students and now it exceeds 100 students. The society aims to arrange several activities such as: social gatherings, sports activities and cultural ones. In short time, its accomplishments exceeded the virtual borders and reached the real world.
The society has group of administrators who are selected at the beginning of each academic year by the members to manage the society activities. This year's administrators are Sultan Al-Kuwari (President), Abdullah Al-Messeh (Vice-President), Fatma Al-Meer (Female Student Organizer), Abdullaziz Al-Mawlawi (Treasurer) and Abdullrahman Al-Menhali (Secretary).
Last year the society arranged a number of activities such as: entertainment trips, social meetings, cultural exhibition etc. Not to mention that last year's exhibition won the prize of the best exhibition among five big other exhibitions Leeds University Union's society awards: The Riley's.
As mentioned, the society is part of the Qatari Student Network which is a network that hubs Qatari students from all around the world. The network empowers students' activities and enforces them to be independent. The honorary president of the Network is H. E. Shiekh Joaan Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The network aims to spread the idea of student's activism in the Qatari society and especially the educational environment. The Network was founded in November of 2004 and has succeeded to spread its activities to include all Qatari students from all around the world.
