LUU RockSoc is dedicated to celebrating rock music and culture in its many shapes and forms.
Along with our weekly pub meet up at the Packhorse (from 8.00pm on Fridays) we host our own club night every fourth Wednesday of the month at the Subculture in the Merrion Centre. Our members are not only given the chance to check out some of the best unsigned bands in Leeds, but also get to hear the tracks they want played from our request-friendly society DJs. We also organise coach trips to legendary rock clubs such as the Krazyhouse in Liverpool and Spiders in Hull, and to popular gigs and festivals in nearby cities.
If you're sick of your flatmates dragging you to Oceana, this is the society for you. We don't discriminate against different genres of alternative music and our members have tastes ranging from the usual classic rock and metal to ska and punk and even industrial and goth, so you're bound to find someone who likes the same things as you! Members have plenty of opportunity to meet like-minded friends, either at our weekly pub meets and other events, or through our lively online community - the perfect way to get to know the regulars if you don't want to come to an event alone. A large proportion of our members are also keen musicians so those of you looking to start or join a band are in the right place!
In addition to all this, members receive £1 off some of the best alternative nights in town including Rock of Ages and the Wendy House in the Union, and Hard Rock, Transmission, and of course our own club night in the Subculture.
