LSR is the premier student radio station in the country. A Big Winner at the Radio One Student Radio Awards over the past Five Years, LSRfm specialises in playing music you can't find on other Stations in Leeds. From Global Grooves to the Sweetest Jazz, Funk, and Soul, Hip Hop to Hard Houses, Americana to Alternative Indie and everywhere in-between, LSRfm is here to bring you the Music ignored by Mainstream Radio.
LSRfm is also home to a myriad of speech based radio including, our Radio One award winning current affairs show "Newslink". Our documentaries are first-class too, exploring local and national issues from a student perspective. But speech radio isn't all about social issues and politics we also produce radio plays, masses of arts programming, local listings, our own brand of poetry, slam and rap and radio comedy.
LSRfm's central philosophy is that the airwaves are there for the taking and individuals who want to broadcast should be given as many opportunities to do their own thing as possible.
You won't find any repetitive playlists, no borish humour, just the very best in alternative Leeds music and culture.
The Student Radio Awards 2007 took place on Friday 16th November at a venue near Covent Garden in London. The ceremony, sponsored by Radio 1, was presented by Radio 1 DJs Scott Mills and Edith Bowman.
