Opera

OperaSoc is the union's resident group for anyone who is interested in, enjoys performing or just wants to get involved in all things opera! We want to bring opera to the students of Leeds, and get everyone involved, which is why we have a totally NON-AUDITIONED CHORUS - this way, anyone who wants to can be in our shows!

The society is only in its third year, but so far has put on productions of 'Carmen' and 'The Mikado'. We are hoping to start a precedent of two shows a year, for even more performing opportunities! Our first show this year is 'The Magic Flute', and even though we have begun rehearsals, if you're interested you can still get involved, just get in touch.

Our society is totally student run, and if you're not into being on stage, there are plenty of directing, choreographing, orchestral and staging opportunities for everyone. We rehearse on a Wednesday night from 6-10pm (often with a session in the terrace after) and go to as many operas and performances as possible. We have great links with OperaNorth, and can be found regularly hanging around the Grand, and taking advantage of student tickets.

So whether you're a fully fledged opera star, or a complete beginner, get in touch and take the chance to meet a load of lovely new people and have a bit of a sing!
