The write idea!
For some, creative writing is about supporting and encouraging basic literacy, while for others it is about extending and improving established written skills. For everybody involved in The Write Idea it is all this and more: it is about ideas, imagination and experience, and about how this can be expressed through poetry and stories. Volunteers support the children in a series of themed writing workshops, in which creativity is key. In the past, elements of work from each child have been brought together to form a writing club anthology, a keepsake showcasing the achievements of the club as a whole, and of each participant individually. The Write Idea is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who enjoys creative writing or working with children, and particularly those with specific interests in child literacy or teaching. With a focus on fun, creativity, and the written word, there is scope for involvement at all levels from delivering workshops and sourcing funding to one-on-one writing support, all you need is a little imagination and a lot of enthusiasm!
