Liz Winchurch, Action Volunteer 2007

"I started volunteering with Action two years ago now and have really enjoyed feeling as if I'm giving something back to the local community. Working with children from disadvantaged background I find to be very rewarding.
This year I decided to take on the position of Project Coordinator for "Wacky Wednesdays" and I am very excited about the year ahead! Our first activity is climbing at the Leeds Uni Sports Centre with a group of 8 to 12 year olds, and there will be many more adventurous activities to come!"
Amy Wright, Features Editor - Move or Improve Magazine 2007

"I graduated five years ago and I'm currently the features editor on a national home improvement magazine - Move or Improve? It's a difficult area to get into career-wise so I've done plenty of unpaid work experience along the way.
My first taste of journalism, however, was at the hospital radio station in Birmingham, Birmingham Hospital Broadcasting Network (BHBN). I volunteered for about three years, fitting in a couple of shows a week around work and at weekends. It was a great way to gain a real insight into the industry but actually help to improve quality of life for the patients at the same time."
