The Union building is located in the heart of Leeds University campus. The University campus is a ten minute walk from Leeds city centre and is easily accessible by train or bus,by car or by foot.


Get to Leeds by train

Leeds station connects us with all major UK cities and has regular services to a huge amount of locations. The station has recently undergone massive redevelopment to improve facilities. For information on this and timetables visit the National Rail website.
The campus is a five minute taxi ride or 20 minute walk from Leeds station.

Get to Leeds by bus

There are number of excellent bus services in Leeds. Visit the West Yorkshire Metro website for timetables and general information.
Visit the National Express website for coach details.
There is a now a completely free bus service running every few minutes Monday to Saturday, linking the University and other key city locations. This drops off at the southern end of campus, so please allocate an extra ten minutes to your journey if visiting the main campus. More details are available at www.wymetro.com

Get to Leeds by car


Leeds is linked to the major motorways M1 and M62. Here are some common routes by car:

From the South (M1)
At junction 43 the motorway splits. Take the right hand lanes and follow M621 Leeds Centre. Exit M621 at junction 3 and follow signs for city centre and universities. Pass under the railway bridges keeping in outside lane and enter City Square. Take exit signposted 'University' (the main Post Office on your right). Turn right at next traffic lights into east parade. Travel up EastParade in the left hand lane, straight across The Headrow into Calverley Street (Town Hall will be on your left) past the Leeds General Infirmary (on your left) and turn right immediately after the Civic Hall (on your right). Turn left at the next traffic lights to Woodhouse Lane. The main entrance can be found on your left after a few hundred yards, immediately before the Parkinson Tower.

From the M62 Eastbound
Exit M62 at junction 27 to the M621. Exit the M621 at junction 2 (signposted Harrogate, York and Skipton) and after a few hundred yards approach major roundabout. Take third exit to city centre and join inner ring road. Take exit signposted Skipton A660, which will bring you to Woodhouse Lane. The main entrance can be found on your left after a few hundred yards, immediately before the Parkinson Tower.

From the M62 Westbound
Exit M62 at junction 29 to join M1 northbound. (continue from - From the South (M1)

From A1 Northbound
Leave A1 (at exit to Ferrybridge Services) to join M62 westbound. Exit M62 at junction 29 to join M1 northbound. (continue from - From the South (M1)

From A1 Southbound
Leave A1 taking A64 towards Leeds and join inner ring road (dual carriageway). Take exit signposted Skipton A660, which will bring you to Woodhouse Lane. The main entrance can be found on your left after a few hundred yards, immediately before the Parkinson Tower.

Get to the Leeds University campus from the station by foot

Come out of the station into City square; with the Queens Hotel behind you, walk straight up Park Row. Continue up Park Row until the first major junction, The Headrow. Turn right and walk along The Headrow, past the Light shopping centre on your left. At the end of The Light centre turn left up Woodhouse Lane. Follow this road up, passing Morrisons supermarket on your right, Leeds Metropolitan University on your left - and the Dry Dock boat pub on an island on your right! The University campus begins in another 50 metres or so on your left. To reach the Parkinson building, carry on up Woodhouse Lane to the clocktower building.

Parking Information


Parking space is limited around the Union building. However, there are a number of car parks situated around the campus. Please see the campus map above for the car park locations.
